Grounded in President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s legacy of leadership, The Eisenhower Institute at Gettysburg College promotes nonpartisan discourse and critical analysis of issues of long-term importance through competitive fellowships, access to renowned experts, and symposia.

Michael Birkner

Michael J. Birkner is Professor of History at Gettysburg College and Benjamin Franklin Professor of Liberal Arts. He has taught at Gettysburg since 1989, chairing the department from 1993-2003, and serving for the past decade on the Eisenhower Institute Advisory Board.
